At Wave Hotel Potsdam, sustainability isn’t a trend—it’s a thoughtfully implemented concept, deeply rooted in the building’s original design. We believe comfort and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand – without compromise. That’s why we rely on architecture that is not only visually appealing but also energy-efficient.
While many accommodations adopt energy-saving measures as an afterthought, Wave Hotel was designed from the ground up with a sustainable energy concept. The combination of innovative technologies and eco-friendly construction allows us to operate independently and conserve resources over the long term.
As a result, our guests enjoy a pleasant indoor climate, while the environment benefits from a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions. Staying at Wave Hotel means traveling consciously – without sacrificing premium comfort. For those who value sustainability and seek an exclusive hotel experience, this is a place that sets new standards.
At Wave Hotel Sustainability Is a Priority We place great importance on sustainability at Wave Hotel. By harnessing energy from the sun, air, and water, we are 100% independent of fossil fuels and generate a significant portion of our energy ourselves. Solar power, via photovoltaic panels, supplies most of the electricity needed to operate our heat pumps. Any surplus energy is stored in batteries or fed back into the grid. Additional energy is provided through solar air absorbers, which support an ice storage system—a cistern filled with water that serves as a thermal energy source. Our heat pumps use this renewable energy to heat the building in winter and cool it in summer. Modern insulation and large-scale underfloor heating ensure cozy warmth even with low flow temperatures. In the summer, the same system is used to cool the building in an eco-friendly way by lowering indoor temperatures by 2–4°C, creating a comfortable climate throughout the property.
